Top Trends At Thankyou in 2011

It’s the new year and the first week of 2012 has just gone by quickly! Here at Thankyou,  2011 was a fun and exciting year for the team and as we move on to another promising year ahead, we did a little look back at the things that have become a big trend in our gift registry services.

Among the most remarkable things that trended  in our industry last year were:

There seem to be more and more excited parents this year who have discovered the flexibility of  Thankyou and have used our service for their baby showers. The great part is, couples who have also used Thankyou for their wedding registries come back and create baby gift registries with us as well! We all know how tough it can be for guests (especially those who are not parents yet) to determine what a newborn would need. With thankyou’s baby gift registry, parents are able to list the things that will be helpful. They can put these as online contribution items as well and have guests contribute cash which they can use to purchase the baby items they need.

  • Homewares are still “trending”!

Who says you do not need another toaster? Despite what you may think, homewares still account for the majority of gift items listed on wedding registries with Thankyou! This is    because there are still many new couples out there who are either buying items for their new home, or are wishing to upgrade to modern kitchenware, dinnerware and other household appliances.

  • Removing guest contribution fees

Launched by thankyou late in 2011, Organisers are jumping at the chance to make their registry simple and affordable for their Guests. Many Occasion Organisers are now electing to pay the once off fee of $89 to ensure their Guests are not charged a thankyou service fee on any   contributions that they make on the items they select.

  • Listing “Anything, any store, anywhere” (AAA) items

Along with removing Guest contribution fees there has been a resurgence in listing AAA items. AAA items are popular on a thankyou registry since Occasion Organisers can simply pick items from any online or physical store and put them on the list. Feedback from our Occasion Organisers is that they don’t want to make their special day just about receiving gifts! Providing a list of suggestions that would come in handy is a more elegant solution, particularly in this economic climate. Guests are encouraged to source the gift at a convenient store as well as at an agreeable price.

We expect some of these trends to continue as the new year unfolds and with thankyou’s versatile services, we will continue to make your occasions even more special. Thankyou wishes to provide everyone the best when it comes to weddings, baby showers and other events and we will do so even more this year. Stay tuned for new updates at!
