Quick Tips: Keep on track and organise your wedding registry

Creating a wedding registry is one of the most exciting times in the planning process. Just like most of the aspects of your big day, there are many do’s and don’t’s that come with it.

First of all, decide what type of wedding registry you both would like to have. Do you prefer a traditional one or a modern registry? This will help you decide which stores and items are best suited to your taste. Or would you prefer the alternate route and go for an online wedding registry where you can simply list anything you like, including non-traditional gifts?

Whatever you decide on, be guided and check out the tips we have for you:

  • Register early. This will help you keep everything organised before you send out your save the date cards and invitations. Never register too close to the date of your wedding – it will make things hectic for you and your guests, plus you might forget too many things that you should register for!

  • If you are going the traditional route, register at more than one shop to provide options and versatility for your guests. You can list all your registries in the one spot if you use Thankyou Registry.

  • Keep it all balanced by selecting items with a wide range of price points to suit our guests’ budget.

  • Register for gifts you want and need. No need to worry if it’s non-traditional! Online gift registries like Thankyou allow you to list everything.

  • If you plan to go the traditional way, prepare a list of items you’d like to include in your store registry. This will save you lots and lots of time and will keep you more organised so you don’t spend hours pointing the scanner gun at items you might not really need.

  • Anticipate the future! Do you both see  yourself as hosts to big family gatherings and dinner parties? Register for things that you will need for these occasions (Serving platters, bigger pots or and extension dining table!) It is very common for couples to forget this bit!

  • Never ever forget to send thank-you notes. Don’t  go for the shortcut and thank your guests on Facebook.  Make handwritten, personal notes  and send them out promptly!
