Q & A: Is it okay to get married on Easter Sunday?

Our experts say:

Confirm first with your family and friend if this date is fine with them. They may have family traditions to observe during this holiday. Also, Ask your officiant if it is okay to perform a wedding on Easter. Keep in mind that this is the holiest day of the year for Christians and some priests (Catholic priests particularly) will not perform wedding ceremonies during the Lenten season.

Getting married on a holiday also means there might be heavy traffic in your reception or wedding venue and if your ceremony is out of town, guests may have to pay much more for hotels or air fare.

Quick Q & A: Inviting friends

Quick Q & A: Inviting friends

A lot of couples are asking this:

Do you have to invite friends who invited you to their wedding?

Actually, the rule on reciprocating invitation and entertaining is strong. If the wedding took place just recently and you and your friends are still close, they should be on your guest list. However, in cases where your friendship has somewhat faded since their big day or if you are having a smaller wedding, it is okay to not include them in your guest list.

If you are inviting mutual friends, make sure they are aware of the restriction. This way, they won’t gush too much about your upcoming nuptials in front of the ones who were not invited and unintentionally create an awkward situation for everyone.

Quick Tips: When don’t receive the RSVPs on time…

It’s past the deadline. You look at your guest list and find that there are still people who have not sent out their RSVPs yet.  What to do in this case?

If you hired a wedding planner, she will need to phone every person on the list whose RSVPs you have not received yet after the deadline. It could be that their invitation or their reply has gone astray. If there are still a lot on your list to call and you don’t have a wedding planner to help you out, ask your loved ones for assistance.

If you consistently get the answering machine every time you call, leave a message saying that if you do not hear from them by a certain date, you’ll assume they will not be attending.

How to avoid killing each other during your wedding planning

We know it’s a huge task to plan a wedding and along the way, there will be the most stressful moments you’ll have to face. At these times, you might find it hard to keep the love alive, so here are some tips for you to keep the peace and avoid the meltdown.

Establish the rules right from the onset of your planning.

Hammer out all the issues and differences in opinions and decisions. Did you want to get married in your hometown while he wants to have a destination wedding? You’ll have to settle this right from the get go.

Don’t force the groom to do the task he couldn’t care less about.

Never press your groom to make decision about the things he’s not really into. Give him the tasks that suit his interests.  To sound horribly sexist, let him take care of the transportation, the band, your wedding website – anything where his skills shine! Click here to continue reading
