How to plan a successful party at home

Want to throw a party but don’t know where to start? Here are some tips that will surely help!

  • Plan as early as you can. The more time you have, the less stressed you are going to be.

  • Create a master list for the following: guests, menu and shopping. Keep these updated and organized to keep track of what you still need to purchase and who have RSVPd to your event.

  • Ask for help. If you try to get everything done by yourself, you’d be flat out even before you could get to your next task. Get a friend or family member to help you out.

  • Pick a theme. It makes your planning easier if you know what should go into the mood you wish to create for the party.

  • If you are planning to have games during the party, it’s good to have a few extra games as backup.

  • As soon as you have the food, date and time down, start inviting your guests.

  • Stash away your valuables.  You or your guests might end up bumping into a vase, or a painting or an antique lamp that you don’t want broken, so, store them in a ‘no admittance’ zone in the house.

  • Prepare non-alcoholic drinks and add them to the menu. Not everyone likes alcohol and the ones who will be driving are going to need something to drink too.

  • To liven up your party atmosphere, play some good background music – just make sure it’s loud enough to hear but not too loud to cause distraction.

  • Be sure you get to talk to everyone at the party and enjoy the day!
